About braveviewer

Free, browser-based tools for anonymous research of public Instagram content.

Our mission

braveviewer exists to make publicly available Instagram content easy to access without forcing visitors to create an account, install an app, or expose their identity to the account owner. We focus on the slice of Instagram that is already open to the public web — stories, profiles, likes and follower counts on accounts that are not private.

We believe public information should be readable without a login wall. We do not bypass any privacy setting Instagram offers — private profiles, private stories and private highlights are not accessible through our tools, by design.

Who runs it

braveviewer is built and operated by an independent team of web engineers and product designers focused on privacy-respecting tools for social media research. The site is one of several utility properties in our portfolio.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. All Instagram trademarks belong to their respective owners.

How the tools work

When you paste a public username or profile URL, braveviewer fetches the content through our own infrastructure. Instagram only sees a request from our servers, never from your browser or your Instagram identity, so your visit does not appear in the account owner's story viewer list or any other notification surface.

Everything runs in your browser. We do not store the usernames you look up, the videos you download, or anything that could identify you. There is no signup, no profile, no analytics tied to your identity.

Our principles

  • Anonymous by default — no identity signal is sent to the account owner.
  • No storage of viewer identity, search history, or session data.
  • Public content only — private profiles and stories are never accessible.
  • No Instagram login or account required to use any tool.
  • Free for everyone — no paywalls, no subscription tiers, no premium features.

Copyright and DMCA

If you are a rights holder and want content removed, please reach out through our contact page and we will action valid requests within 24 hours. We comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act and equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions.
